Brian McCarthy
Executive Chairman – FEXCO
Brian founded FEXCO in 1981, a company based in Killorglin, Co. Kerry, Ireland. Brian has been instrumental in the development and growth of the company during the 30 years since its foundation.
Brian worked with Allied Irish Banks from 1963 to 1981. He is a member of the UCC Foundation Committee and a Director of Radio Kerry. Previously, he was Chairman of the Interim Prisons Board of the Irish Prisons Authority for a period of 12 years.
He was honoured in October 2002 with receiving the Ernst & Young International Entrepreneur of the Year Award. He also received the Sean F. Lemass Award for Excellence in Marketing in 1987.
Gavin O’Neill
Group Managing Director – FEXCO
Gavin joined FEXCO in 2005 and was appointed group Managing Director in 2009. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants having qualified with Price Waterhouse in 1987. He spent 14 years in various managerial roles, primarily in the Irish subsidiaries of multinational corporations, culminating in the position of Managing Director of Buckeye Technologies Ireland Ltd. Gavin also holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from University College Cork and a Diploma in IT from Dublin City University.
Gerard Murphy
Company Secretary of FEXCO Holdings
Gerard joined the FEXCO Finance Dept. in 1989; he was appointed Finance Director of FEXCO Group in 1997 until 2001. He was then given responsibility for the Western Union Money Transfer Division as Operations Director until February 2009. This followed a one year secondment to the Western Union Corporation. In February 2010 Gerard was appointed Head of the Consumer Services Division and during December 2010 he was appointed company Secretary of FEXCO Holdings.
Gerard qualified as a Certified Accountant in 1990.
Dermot O’Shea
Executive Director of FEXCO Holdings
Dermot joined FEXCO in 1985; and is currently the Managing Director of the Merchant Services division. He has over twenty five years experience across various FEXCO operations namely; IT, VAT Processing, Senior Project Management, Business Development and Marketing. Dermot has been responsible for the Dynamic Currency Conversion product since 1997 and was appointed to lead the Merchant Services division in 2006 in its global expansion program. Dermot is also a member of FEXCO’s Executive Management Committee.
Roy Barrett
Executive Director of FEXCO Holdings
Roy Barrett is the Managing Director at Goodbody Stockbrokers, Ireland’s longest established stockbroking firm. Roy joined Goodbody as Head of Equities in 1995 from the NCB Group where he was Head of Institutional Equities since 1990. Prior to that, he worked in the UK with both SG Warburg and Paribas. In 1996, he was appointed Managing Director, and has retained his primary focus of growing the firm by addressing opportunities to provide more services to Goodbody’s client base. Roy was educated at Blackrock College and qualified with a Bachelor of Civil Law from UCD in 1985. He continued his studies, attaining a Masters in Business Studies (Banking and Finance) in 1987. He is married with four children and lives in Dublin.
John Nagle MA, MVB, MRCVS, MBA
Non-Executive Director of FEXCO Holdings.
John served as Group Managing Director of FEXCO from 1993 to 2009; he was responsible for the growth and expansion of the group during this time and spent a lot of time developing the company at a global level. In January 1999 he was appointed to the PICA Board (Australia) and he is a Director of The Prize Bond Company Ltd.
Dr. Michael Somers B Comm, M.Econ.Sc Ph.D
Non-Executive Director of FEXCO Holdings
Dr. Somers is former Chief Executive of the National Treasury Management Agency. He is non-executive director of Willis Group Holdings plc, Hewlett-Packard International Bank plc, the European Investment Bank, St. Vincent’s Healthcare Group Ltd, a member of the Institute of Directors and President of the Irish Chapter of the Ireland-US Council. He is also Chairman of Goodbody Stockbrokers. He was appointed to the AIB Board in January 2010 as a nominee of the Minister for Finance under the Irish Government’s National Pensions Reserve Fund Act 2000 where he is Deputy Chairman; and is also Chairman of the Risk Committee.

Dick Spring

Former Tánaiste (Deputy Prime Minister) of the Republic of Ireland, Minister for Foreign Affairs and leader of the Labour Party. Non-Executive Director, Chairman of International Development Ireland Ltd., Altobridge Ltd., and Alder Capital Ltd. Director of Repak Ltd. and the Realta Global Aids Foundation Ltd. He was appointed to the AIB Board in January 2009 as a nominee of the CIFS Scheme.
Tom O’Beirne
Non-Executive Director of FEXCO Holdings
Tom spent 30 years working in the Irish Bottlers of Coca- Cola in a variety of roles that included sales, production, marketing and as CEO. In 1996 he was appointed CEO of HBC Romania / Moldova where he stayed for 6 years before serving 3 years with HBC in Italy. This was followed by a year with CCCIL in China where he stabilised the organisation and refocused to the market orientation. He continues to work as a consultant and has experience of consulting in the following countries: Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Poland, Germany, Italy, Baltic States, USA, Japan, Greece, Brazil, New Zealand and Ireland. He served on the boards of Irish Shipping, the National Lottery, the Radio Commission and Rehab.

Denis is the founder of Annadale Technologies Ltd. Annadale is an information technology company that specialises in designing and developing high volume transaction processing systems for the remittance and credit card payment industries. Denis is also the managing director of Aviso, the software company behind Novate, a highly flexible and performant Electronics Funds Transfer (EFT) payment switch.
Maurice Roche

Maurice served as Chief Financial Officer of FEXCO from June 2006 until April 2013. He held the position of Group Financial Controller at Dairy Gold Co-operative Society Limited from 1976 to 2003. This was followed by a two year period as Group Business Planning Controller at Dairy Gold Co-operative Society Limited.
Maurice qualified as Chartered Accountant in 1975.
