Inspiring Future Generations: Fexco Teams Up with Junior Achievement Ireland
Fexco recently welcomed 6th class students from Moyderwell Mercy Primary School in Tralee, Ireland, to the RDI Hub as part of the Junior Achievement Ireland (JAI) programme, offering hands-on introduction to the different career paths that lie ahead.
The visit is part of Fexco’s ongoing partnership with Junior Achievement Ireland, a national non-profit organisation dedicated to equipping young people with the skills, confidence, and mindset they need to succeed in life and future careers. Through this collaboration, Fexco volunteers bring classroom learning to life, helping students connect what they learn in school with real-world applications.
Bringing the World of Work to Life
During their visit, students heard directly from Fexco employees across a range of disciplines, including Marketing, HR, Technology, and Software Engineering. These speakers varied from full-time employees, down to placement students, all who are currently developing their own careers within the Group.
This mix of voices gave students a unique perspective on different career paths and journeys, demonstrating that there is no single route to success. By sharing their own experiences, Fexco volunteers helped highlight the diverse opportunities available within a global organisation.
The experience went far beyond presentations; the students had the opportunity to play with interactive technology, experiment with equipment – from media lab recording tools to collaborative digital workspaces.
Inspiring Confidence and Curiosity
Anne Sweeney, Programme Coordinator with Junior Achievement Ireland, highlighted the importance of experiences like these in shaping young people’s ambitions:
“The idea is to inspire and encourage them to continue their studies and to remain in school, that is the ethos of Junior Achievement Ireland.”
For many students, the visit was an eye-opening moment, one that connected their current education with future possibilities in a meaningful way.
Their teacher, Eóin Sayers, who has been involved in the programme for several years, noted the powerful impact it has had on students:
“It’s been an absolute highlight of the year for a lot of the children. It’s opened their minds; they’ve seen the connection between what they’re doing in school and what they could achieve in the future.”
Building Skills for the Future
Fexco volunteers introduced students to key topics including STEM, AI, and emerging technologies, helping them understand how these areas are shaping the future of work. By hearing how these tools are used in everyday roles across the organisation, students gained practical insights into industries they may not have previously considered.
Importantly, the programme also fosters soft skills such as communication, confidence, and teamwork, with students encouraged to ask questions, share ideas, and take part in discussions.
A Partnership that Creates Impact
Fexco’s involvement in the Junior Achievement Ireland programme reflects its broader commitment to community engagement and education. By giving employees the opportunity to volunteer and share their expertise, the organisation helps to create meaningful learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom.
These interactions not only benefit students but also allow Fexco teams to play an active role in shaping the next generation, encouraging ambition, broadening horizons, and investing in the communities we operate in.
Future Talent
Programmes like Junior Achievement Ireland continue to play a vital role in preparing young people for the future. By connecting education with industry, and students with real-life role models, they help to unlock potential at an early stage.
For the 6th class students who visited Fexco and the RDI Hub, the day was more than just a school trip, it was a glimpse into what their future could look like.
And for Fexco, it’s one of the many ways we invest in the future, by inspiring it today.
